The Authentic Tapas Group started life as Casa Ruiz in Bridgnorth, Shropshire in 2009 with Alfonso in the Kitchen and Emma on the Front of House. In late 2010 Casa Naranjo in Shrewsbury opened and finally we opened Don Diego Tapas Bar in Sutton Coldfield in March 2012.
Alfonso and Emma are absolutely passionate about tasty, fresh food with great service in a relaxed atmosphere. At Don Diego you can be sure to be made to feel welcome and to have a fun and delicious meal.
We have spent a long time tasting and sourcing the best possible Jamon and Iberian Pork meat for our menu. The pork we have chosen comes from a small farm in Guijelo near Salamnca. The Pigs are the famous “Black Iberian” pigs and they are reared totally organically and free range and fed a rich diet of Acorns. This unique diet gives the meat an especially nutty flavor and actually fills the meat with a wide range of health benefiting vitamins and minerals.
The meat is best eaten with your fingers so that it can warm up and then melt in your mouth.

There is free on-road parking just outside Don Diego after 6.30pm every day and all day on Sundays, however there is a secure car park just a very short distance away in the Sutton Coldfield "shopping Mall". As we are located in the centre of town finding a parking space is always easy.
